Business Development Representative - Developmental & Community Services - Remote, Ontario

About Us

Clinical Staffing Supports (CSS) is a healthcare staffing agency providing specialized staffing solutions to organizations across Canada. We work with developmental service agencies, healthcare facilities, residential programs, community-based organizations, and other service providers to connect them with qualified professionals who can meet their unique staffing and support needs.

Our mission is to help organizations access reliable, qualified professionals while supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and individualized care.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Representative (BDR) with a professional background in the developmental services sector to help expand our network of organizational partnerships. This is a remote, part-time, independent contractor position with a commission-based compensation structure.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced professional who has worked in service coordination, transition support facilitation, case management, program management, community partnerships, resource coordination, or related roles within developmental and community services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the developmental services landscape, established professional connections within the sector, and the ability to recognize opportunities where organizations may benefit from specialized staffing and support solutions.

Unlike a traditional sales position, this role focuses on leveraging industry knowledge, professional relationships, and an understanding of organizational needs to establish meaningful partnerships. We are looking for someone who is confident engaging with organizational leaders, program managers, service directors, and other decision-makers, and who is interested in applying their sector expertise to business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and research prospective clients across developmental service agencies, residential programs, community-based organizations, mental health services, healthcare facilities, and other relevant sectors.

  • Generate new business opportunities through professional networking, referrals, phone calls, email outreach, LinkedIn, industry events, and other outreach strategies.

  • Connect with executive directors, program managers, service directors, clinical leaders, and other organizational decision-makers to introduce CSS' services.

  • Conduct discovery calls and meetings to understand prospective clients' staffing challenges, service gaps, operational needs, and specialized support requirements.

  • Present CSS' healthcare, behavioural, and specialized staffing solutions to prospective clients.

  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and work toward securing new client accounts and executed service agreements.

  • Conduct timely follow-ups with leads and coordinate discussions with CSS leadership when required.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of outreach activities, communications, meetings, and business opportunities within the company's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

  • Complete required client intake documentation and coordinate the handoff of secured accounts to CSS' administrative and operations team.

  • Communicate emerging business opportunities, urgent client needs, and relevant industry developments to CSS leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience within the developmental services, disability support, or related community services sectors.

  • Previous experience in service coordination, transition support facilitation, case management, program management, community partnerships, resource coordination, or related roles is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the developmental services sector, including the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the organizations supporting them.

  • Familiarity with developmental service agencies, residential programs, community-based supports, and service coordination processes.

  • Knowledge of Ontario's developmental services system, including Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), community participation programs, residential services, and specialized support services is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by service providers, including staffing shortages, service gaps, complex support needs, and access to appropriate resources.

  • Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) or behavioural services is considered an asset.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Excellent networking, relationship-building, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to confidently engage with service coordinators, program managers, clinical professionals, and organizational decision-makers.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable independently identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.

  • Comfortable conducting outreach through phone calls, emails, professional networking, and virtual meetings.

Previous sales or business development experience is an asset but is not required. We particularly value candidates with strong sector knowledge, established professional networks, and experience collaborating with developmental service organizations.

Who Would Thrive in This Role?

This opportunity may be an excellent fit for someone who:

  • Has worked in developmental services for several years and developed strong professional relationships across the sector.

  • Enjoys networking, connecting with professionals, and identifying opportunities for collaboration.

  • Understands the operational challenges organizations face when accessing qualified staff and specialized support services.

  • Has experience collaborating with multiple agencies, service providers, or community organizations.

  • Is confident initiating conversations with organizational leaders and decision-makers.

  • Is interested in exploring business development while continuing to contribute to the developmental services sector.

  • Is independent, resourceful, goal-oriented, and motivated by results.
